The presence of people in your life who love you, or hold you through the tough times is pretty much everything: even the memory of their presence can be enough to keep you holding on. Sometimes when you just want to run away - or make it all go away - they are the anchors that keep you present, the anchors that hold you fast, and, as you look back, remind you why you are alive, why life is good.
This small collection of songs are reminders of those anchors. And because of that, they are also filled with gratitude and joy.
The recordings are also graced by gorgeous performances by family and friends who also happen to be extraordinary musicians. The sound you hear is that loving presence in recorded form. Each time I listen I'm deepened in my gratitude...
Some of these songs have been around for years, sitting on hard-drives, played at the occasional gig, or even used to help bring healing to people who needed it most. After a fortuitous event that brought the presence of one dear friend, Luke Vassella, into our home for a number of nights (yes, vehicle breakdowns can sometimes be bearers of fortune!), we ended up finishing off a number of these tracks - and the time now seems right to finally release them.
I hope that they will evoke for you the gratitude you might have in your hearts for others as you listen, and the precious anchors in your life.
